1) Screening: It is the initial step where water is screened. So the water is screened to remove the big stuff, like leaves, sticks, and other debris that shouldn't be in the water. Stage 3: Sedimentation: Once the water has been pre-filtered, it is transferred into another tank, called a sedimentation tank. In this tank, the water is static for a period of time. This enables the heavier dirt and particles to accumulate to the bottom of the tank. Through this, clean water gets separated from the dirt.

Filtration: After that, the water is filtered. Here, water is filtered through layers of materials like sand, gravel and charcoal. These materials are like sponges, capturing and getting rid of smaller impurities that we can’t see. This step is important to remove small fragments of soil and other impurities.

Disinfection: After the water is filtered, it goes through a final cleaning process, known as disinfection. We then add special chemicals, such as chlorine, to the water during this step. It is then brought to dry in the hot air, the chemicals will kill any pathogenic germs or bacteria which may remain. This all contributes to ensuring the water we drink/use is safe!
